God to demonstrate the sincerity and reality of His love for me.  I trust the benefits you receive as you read this book will be as satisfying as those I have received in learning and writing these precious things.

After Pilate had written the superscription to be placed over Jesus' cross, the Jews insisted that he change the wording from "Jesus of Nazareth the King of the Jews" to "He said, I am King of the Jews."  With much wisdom Pilate answered, "What I have written I have written."  Somehow he knew that he had written the truth of God, though his reason could not fully comprehend it.  Daniel wrote his prophecy by the revelation of God and sealed the book without fully understanding what he had written.  Paul learned things he was never able to utter, for there were not enough words to convey the grandeur of what he had seen.  So I must confess that though there be much in this book that I do not fully comprehend, my heart bears witness to the truthfulness of it.  But, after all, if we waited to hear the truth of God from a mortal who fully understood and in whose life it had all been perfected, we would wait forever.  Let us remember that the heart has its reason, that reason cannot understand.

It is not my intention to pass any judgments nor to build any fortress of dogma to which all must flee for safety or perish.  I seek merely to explain what I have discovered; and explanations are only for the purpose of helping us understand what perhaps we have already learned in our hearts.
