Into this jungle of reason and debate came a man one day, named Jesus. He was God in the flesh, and He came to challenge and destroy every concept of human wisdom. He dwelt among them, and did more than teach the essence of real love - He lived and demonstrated it. He did not argue with the philosophers; He just loved them, and blew up their world with the undeniable reality of His love. He loved those whom men did not like, ate with sinners and was not defiled, and befriended harlots yet never participated in their lust. He loved His enemies and friends alike, and prayed for those who hated Him. His love crossed every barrier man had erected and broke every rule known to the rulers. It had nothing to do with social strata, race, color, creed, or sex. It embarrassed the Pharisees, stunned the scribes, bewildered the Sadducees, and brought the wrath of all upon Him. Their threats could not stop Him, their plans to destroy Him did not intimidate Him; their persecutions did not discourage nor dismay Him. He just kept on loving, and did to the very end. Religion could not contain His love nor control it. Every boundary they had set soon experienced the velvet steps of His love, and like a rampaging river, it flowed wherever it willed and nothing could stop it.
There were only two reactions to the Love of God in the flesh - men either hated Him violently, or loved Him passionately. Men either said that He was an imposter, a blasphemer, a devil-possessed madman, or that He was the Son of the
